On Tuesday, Mike Holmgren announced that he will return for a final season as head coach for the Seattle Seahawks, finishing out his contract. He has coached the Seahawks for nine seasons, and holds the most wins for a Seahawk coach in history, at 86-68. Mike Holmgren said, he wants to make this their best year under him yet.
The Washington redskins revealed their secret candidate Jim Fassel. Fassel led the Giants to a superbowl in the year 2000. Fassel had inconsistancy in New York, and after leaving the team and becoming the offensive coordinater in Baltimore, he was fired after two seasons. The Redskins also interviewed Greg Williams four times for the position.
And finally, the Atlanta Falcons. They have had little to negative success, finding a new head coach. Parcells rejected the offer, Jason Garrett rejected the offer, and New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels also rejected the offer, but as of yesterday they finally have their man. Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Smith, is the new Falcon head coach. Smith received a superbowl ring in 2000, when he served as a linebacker coach with the Baltimore Ravens. He then moved to Jacksonville in the 2003 football season with Jack Del Rio. In his years at Jacksonville, his defense never averaged over 20 point per game. In my opinion this was a good choice for the Falcons.
